Privacy
The short version: we collect very little, we say what we do with it, and you can leave any time.
What we collect
- Your email address, when you request a free resource, sign up for the Nerd Out Weekly newsletter, or register for a workshop. An optional SMS signup also asks for a phone number and timezone.
- Anonymous usage analytics via PostHog, so we can see which pages and tools actually get used.
- With your permission, the Meta Pixel and Google Ads tag use cookies on public pages to measure ads and show relevant workshops on Meta, Google, and YouTube. We retain campaign and ad-click identifiers for up to 30 days in your browser. For consenting purchases, we share the workshop, amount, currency, and a transaction identifier with our advertising providers. When server-side Meta measurement is enabled, Meta also receives a hashed email address and advertising cookie identifiers to match the purchase. We do not send form entries to Google Ads.
What we use it for
- Delivering the resource you asked for.
- Workshop logistics: your ticket, prep notes, and the recording.
- Occasional Nerd Out notes when we publish something new.
Who handles it
Emails are delivered through Kit (formerly ConvertKit), our email provider. When checkout is live, payments are processed by Stripe; card details go to Stripe directly and never touch our servers.
Optional text messages
Optional SMS signup stores the number, declared timezone, the disclosure you accepted, and verification and opt-out records. Simulated signups send no texts. Enabled SMS delivery shares the number and requested message with SimpleTexting. QA is limited to approved test numbers. Coupon eligibility links a verified email to a Stripe customer and retains issuance and redemption history. Verified SMS preferences may be projected to Kit. Phone numbers and verification codes are excluded from analytics capture in the signup form.
We do not share mobile information or SMS consent with third parties for their marketing. Consent and opt-out evidence may be retained when a lead record is deleted. Contact us about access or deletion.
Your advertising choices
Advertising tags stay off until you choose to allow them. Use Ad cookie settings in the footer to change your choice. We honor Global Privacy Control. Declining or withdrawing permission does not affect checkout. Withdrawing stops future browser advertising events; it does not recall events already sent or a purchase already authorized during checkout.
Leaving
Every email we send includes an unsubscribe link. One click and you are off the list.
