The useful distinction
Rating is the headline. Freshness is the operating habit.
Rating math asks how many new reviews at your chosen future average would move the displayed rating. Five stars is one scenario, not a guarantee. The estimate treats the displayed current rating as exact and includes your chosen average in the plan and tracker.
Freshness looks at your own pace instead of an invented industry benchmark. The grade asks whether the latest 90 days supply their share of the trailing year and whether reviews arrive consistently. It is a Nerd Out operating heuristic, not a Google ranking factor or guarantee.

How many Google reviews do I need to raise my rating?
It depends on your current displayed rating, review count, target, and expected average for future reviews. When you are below target, the future average must exceed it to reach it in a finite number of reviews. Google may store more precision than it shows, so the answer is a planning estimate.
What is review velocity?
Review velocity is the rate at which new reviews arrive. This tool shows the average per month in your latest 90 days and compares it with the prior 90 days so you can see whether your own pace is rising or falling.
What does review freshness mean here?
Freshness is a transparent Nerd Out planning score. Seventy points come from the latest 90 days contributing at least one quarter of your trailing-year reviews, and each active recent month adds ten points. It is not a Google ranking score.
Does this tool connect to or scrape Google Business Profile?
